Product design folio

The design concept of the Furniture is inspired from the technique of making hand knotted carpets. The inner ring of the canopy is adorned with weaves and threads, hand knotted in a specific pattern, by the team. The knots are tied in such a way that aesthetics and functionality of the installation are both fulfilled.
The team practically performed the analysis of the campus of Arch College of Design and, further, to enhance the vision of the area, the team made campus plans and bubble diagrams. Along with it, they conducted a survey among the students to find out what they desired to have the most in the college campus. The survey concluded that the students required a proper seating area in the college for interaction.

Since the initial stage, the selection of materials was done in a cost effective way. All the raw materials used in the Furniture are the ones that have been previously discarded by vendors. From the iron pipe to the ring to the tin cans, all were previously scrap and were made use of for the sole purpose of this Furniture.

div>The color theme of the Furniture comprises a range of Earthy shades. This color scheme is inspired by the color usage in the craft of Mojari. Neutral, Earth, Calm and Subtle is the theme of the color palette. The selection of this theme is done keeping in mind the already existing color scheme of the campus. Since the exterior walls of the college campus are a mix of bright orange and white, the color scheme for the Art installation has been chosen for Earthy and Rustic colours to give it a balance.

The structure has a total height of eight feet. The seats are levelled at a height of two feet six inches, the iron rod is levelled at a height of seven feet whereas the mounted rod over the ring is heighted at one foot six inches. The diameter of the ring is five feet. These dimensions of the installation not only make it compact but portable as well.
The design of the structure of the furniture was inspired from the Tea culture of India. The furniture would be consisting of 6 seats that would be surrounded around a mounted canopy levelled at Eight feet, providing shade to all the seats. The seats would be made of discarded tin cans whereas the structure of the canopy as well as its base will be made out light weight iron.
